Panda Volunteering- One of the Best Things You Can Do if You Visit Sichuan
Wondering, is there anything “out-of-the-box” that you can do in Sichuan apart from just enjoying the scenic beauty? Well yes! There’s one thing that you can do apart from just clicking pictures of the greenery and majestic mountains and that is, volunteering pandas by booking a Chengdu Panda Tour from a reputed travel agency.
Well there are around three different panda bases in Sichuan that are a home to several giant pandas. But out of all those bases, there’s just one that gives you a chance to volunteer pandas and that is none other than the Dujiangyan Panda Center. But before you visit this base to volunteer these cute and cuddly creatures, here’s a brief about everything that you need to do in this base. So, take a look.
- First, you need to reach the panda base by 8:30 in the morning as that’s the reporting time for everyone who wants to volunteer these balls-of-fur.
- Next, you’ll need to learn about all the necessary safety announcements from an official who would be instructing and guiding you and then, sign the security agreement.
- After signing the security agreement papers and learning the safety measures, you will have to put on the work suit and gloves and wear the volunteer pass card that’ll be provided by the base before you enter the work premises (the panda enclosures).
- Once you enter, you will be instructed to do plenty of works for these fluffy creatures such as cleaning their enclosure and poop, throwing away all the old bamboos and bringing in the fresh ones, etc.
- After you are done cleaning their enclosure, the next thing that you’ll have to do is feed them panda cakes, carrots, bamboo shoot, or apples. And then, you can have lunch with the other staffs and take a break for 1.5 hours.
- Next, you will be taken to a room where the officials will make you watch a documentary on Pandas. And after that, you’ll have to clean their enclosure once again and feed them.
- Then, you will be taught how to prepare food for pandas (panda cakes).
- Last but not the least, you will be asked to answer some scientific questions about pandas (your answers must be based on your whole day’s observation).
