Even though it is my new home, I was visiting for the very first time here. Hence, I wanted to make the most out of my vacations by exploring this place. I did the same and visited so many places, but the following are my favorite:
1. Rideau Canal
This canal connects Kingston with Ottawa on Lake Ontario. It is also called the Rideau Waterway. Fun things that you can do in Rideau Canal include a ride on the cruise, skating, recreational areas for festivals. Built-in 1912, it is an outstanding place to spend some quality with your family.
2. Canadian War Museum
Situated beside the popular Ottawa River, the remarkably modern Canadian War Museum where you can visit and explore the military past of Canada. Exhibits of this place cover everything, right from the contribution of Canada in the 1st and 2nd World Wars and fighting between Iroquois and French in the 16th Century.
3. National Gallery of Canada
Ultra-modern, designed, and conceptualized by Moshe Safdie is an ‘architectural’ masterpiece with a ‘prism-like’ tower that echoes. Inside this building, you will get to see the largest art museums, galleries, show temporary exhibitions, European Impressionism, etc. The major attractions of this place include Major’s Hill Park, Notre-Dame, etc. where you can visit with your family and friends.
4. Peace Tower
You can enjoy the panoramic view of the ‘observation deck’ at the top of this tower. This place is also called the ‘Tower of Victory and Peace’ where you can visit and see the memorial hall of the Canadians who lost their lives in World War I.
5. Canadian Museum of Nature
If you also love dinosaurs, then you must visit this place at least once as this place features poignant temporary exhibits after a regular interval. Constructed on a castle-like building, it is a museum of natural sciences and history. I am in love with this place and it will be my all-time favorite now.
Apart from these, I also visited the National War Memorial, Canada’s Cold War Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, Canada Aviation, and Space Museum, Royal Canadian Mint, Byward Market, Dows Lake Pavilion, etc. And trust me, people, these places are just awesome. I am glad that my father bought a new house in this beautiful city.
